Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

Alexandra Rose Raisman was born on May 25, 1994. She is a retired American artist gymnast. She was leader of the 2012 "Fierce Five" as well as the"Fierce Five" in 2016 "Final Five," U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics team. She received gold in the team competitions during the 2016 Olympics. Gabby Douglas as her teammate also was awarded gold. Raisman also earned silver medals for individual all-around, as well as for the floor exercise. She is the third-most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles with six Olympic medals.Raisman was also a member of the gold-winning American teams in the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and the world bronze medalist on floor exercise in the year 2011. She has also been two-time champion in the national championships on floor exercise (2012, 2015) she was the 2012 champion of the national team on the balance beam, and five times medalist in the all-around section at the national championships (silver in 2016, bronze in 2012 and 2011, as well as the 2015 season). In 2013 she was admitted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Raisman was born on 25 May 1994 in Needham, Massachusetts to Lynn Faber (nee Faber), who was a former high-school gymnast, and Rick Raisman. She has three younger sisters: Madison, Chloe, and Brett. Raisman who is Jewish she has said she is very proud in her ability to represent the United States of America, but as well as the Jewish community all over the world. "Raisman started gymnastics when she was eighteen months old. She attributes her early enthusiasm for gymnastics to the "Magnificent Seven", the gold medal-winning U.S. women's team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, whose performances she observed on VHS.She was a student at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing through the level 8 stage, when she joined Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club under coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman was a graduate of Needham High School in 2012 after finishing her senior year with online classes while training for the Olympics.
