Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent her entire childhood living in Chicago. Amy resided in Glen Ellyn in Illinois until she was in junior college. Her family also lived in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy has three siblings: sisters Betsy and Lori and brother Joe. Amy has traveled across Europe both with her family and also independently. Both of her parents worked as teachers so they had the opportunity to spend their summers together in the campfire and travelling across the United States. They have camped in every state, except Alaska. Amy was sent to Rwanda to assist in relief efforts after the war of 1994. In the beginning, Amy showed artistic talent performing in school productions and winning writing contests. In high school she was an accomplished athlete who was a part of the very first 3200 meter relay in the Illinois girls track. After sustaining an injury, she returned to school and played many parts on the stage, beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July” and then directed Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Da and Lemon”. Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) in the year of cum laude, with an A.A. East Asian history with a concentration in Theater. She relocated to Chicago afterward and studied Improv at the Improv Olympic as well as acting in the theater at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she took the job of a contract actress on the defunct soap show Another World (1964). She has been nominated to win a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series". Her most memorable roles have been of strong women as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen in Peacemakers (2003) alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson lives in New York City, with Syd Butler who is her husband and the Bassist of Les Savy Fav. She also owns Frenchkiss Records, an independent music label and acts as a co-owner. Amy is still seeking various and distinctive roles in the world of film.
